There have been two times in my life in which I have been inspired like no other.
Those times were when I carried and gave birth to my two children.
After my son was born in 1994, I felt called to somehow become a part of the birth community. I didn't really know why or, how, I just felt compelled to help women bring their children into the world. I really thought that my only option was to become an OB nurse, and it seemed like I was always putting off looking into nursing school.
I just never got around to it.
When I was pregnant with my little girl, in 2007, I realized that the desire to be a part of the birth community was still there. And stronger than ever! I was even afforded the clarity of realizing that I didn't HAVE to become a nurse to do this!
I gave birth to my daughter with midwives and using HypnoBirthing® for a drug-free, peaceful birth.
When she was four months old, I took the training to become a HypnoBirthing® educator, and since, have continued to become even more involved in the birth community as a postpartum doula.
I am also a devout breastfeeding advocate/blogger and as a new Reiki practitioner, I specialize in pregnancy and postpartum Reiki.
I KNEW, even all of those years ago, that I was meant to be involved with birth and maternal services, somehow.
It just took some time for me to figure out just how I was going to do that.
Birth is so inspiring to me, after all, it is the BEGINNING of life!
I'm not sure how it gets more inspiring than that.
