Compelling Sources of Inspiration

What dioes inspire mean? According to dictionary resources, inspire means to breathe in and also to  favorably affect others.

Over the years, I have discovered that  there is not simply one mode of inspiration that refreshes and fortifies me. I work in higher education on a campus that has an enrollent of 20,700. Outside of work, I am activley committed to a church of 5,000 diverse and multi-gifted members. Innovation, creativity, vibrant colors, life, energy, and synergy keep us moving forward in both settings.

The variaty of simple inspirational options are exciting!  In almost any environment, the language of inspiration that I tend to best respond to are compliments, hugs, personal notes, a meal out, an unexpected token of thoughtfulness. or a phone call from a respected leader who calls to offer a comendation. This is far from an exhaustive lsit, but  is a great start. I intentionally pay attention to those things that  bring life into my spritual, professional, academic and personal journey.

Relevant leadership books inspire me, a meal out with a well-respected leader/mentor also motivates me. At some points in the recent past, each of these things hae occured in my life and have boosted my confidence level  and given me my third wind in whatever setting I find myself (classroom, marketplace, sanctuary, home, etc.)

When I gain my thrid wind, I am able to motivate those around me and cause them to re-commit to an organizational goal and process.The best change agents are inspried and are least likely to expire (lose morale and vision)  or cause others to expire.

I was created to offer and receive inspiration!  This is a key part of my prupsoe in life.;
